Roy Benson Books

The Runner's Coach

This book, written by Roy Benson, teaches runners and coaches how to select for themselves or each of their runners the appropriate workouts for any given day, at any given phase of training. The format is based on a 4-phase training cycle that is carefully explained, and emphasis during training is given to the runner's heart rate.

The book was published in 1994 by Cedarwinds Publishing Company.

Precision Running

This book, written by Roy Benson for Polar Heart Monitor Company, shows you how to use a telemetric heart monitor to train properly. The back pages of the book include a "Roy Benson Pace & Effort Chart" that Roy and I jointly put together to help runners match up pace with heart rate and the focus of their training.

The book was published in 1994. It is currently being made available through Polar. You can obtain more information from anyone who sells Polar heart monitors, or by calling Polar at 1-800-227-1314. You can also write Polar at 99 Seaview Boulevard, Port Washington, NY 11050.
